Sculptor's House, Gandhidham

A young sculptor appoached us with the intention of building a ‘cave house’ for a family of 4, including his parents and grandmother. They own a small plot in the upcoming Oslo neighbourhood of Gandhidham. The site sits in the middle of large old neem trees on one side and a stunning badam tree on the other. The design intervention is an attempt at responding to this context and the ‘content’ they imagine their lives in. The form uses a distinct design language to create openings that allow different kinds of interactions with the neighbourhood, trees and light through the day.

The form of the building was a result of a series of massing models.
