Office of One's Own, Nashik

Where do we spend most of our days? For professionals, it’s most definitely their workplace. Although the concept of a ‘workplace’ is deeply subjective, it is the most dynamic and productive environment in a person's daily life.
When a chartered accountant and his wife, a financial advisor, approached us, they envisioned a space that was not just functional, but empowering- one they’d look forward to inhabiting every day. As a new mother transitioning back to work, her needs added layers of care and flexibility to the design. Together, their roles as professionals, parents, and mentors informed a workplace that supports both quiet introspection and vibrant collaboration.
The central space is the life of the office. Beyond office hours, the space transforms, hosting movie screenings, family gatherings, and community events. It becomes an active yet quiet hub where one can observe the changing seasons and the subtle shift of light throughout the day. Generous west and south-facing openings flood the space with natural light, while an open floor plan promotes transparency and connection. At golden hour, the west façade glows in warm hues, casting long shadows and inviting stillness- a reminder to be able to pause, and be present.
Cabins are thoughtfully placed: the north-facing one for the financial advisor ensures proximity to the lobby and ease of movement. The design prioritises creating a space that allows her to balance professional duties with her personal commitments as a mother. A quiet antechamber doubles as a breakout zone for the family and a space for prayer. The second cabin, reserved for the father, a retired banker, faces the formal discussion area, blurring the boundary between work and leisure with a soft visual connection.
This office reimagines the workplace not just as a site of productivity, but as an evolving extension of personal lives. It is a space to work, reflect, gather, and grow; quietly witnessing the passing light and the layered rhythms of daily life.
